Public Opinion Poll, September 2016
The opinion poll that was commissioned regarding the World and European Day against the death penalty showed a dramatic jump of support of the death penalty in Serbia 58%. While the last year showed a drop of support 51% compared to year 2014 that was 54%, this year poll showed the highest support since SACP has been testing the public opinion in Serbia.

When the undecided are excluded, 70% of respondents were for the death penalty and only 30% against it:
This year, which is very unusual, women are more in favor of the death penalty then men:
The lowest support for the death penalty is recorded in the age group between 30-44:
When it comes to political affiliation, only among the voters od “Dosta je bilo” movement an association with the attitude towards the death penalty has been registered, with significantly larger percent stating that they are against the death penalty:
The urban population is slightly higher against the death penalty than the rural population:
Regionally, the highest percentage of those opposing capital punihsment live in Vojvodina and then in Belgrade, while the highest support of the death penalty is in Central Serbia:
According to this year's survey, education significantly affects the position on the death penalty. Respondents with lower education are more supportive of the death penalty:
The poll („face-to-face“ survey of public opinion – omnibus) was administered by Ipsos Strategic Marketing, using the same methodology as in the past nine years, on a nationally representative sample (three-stage random representative stratified sample), from September, 22 to 29, 2016.
