Public Opinion Poll, September 2017
The opinion poll commissioned for the occasion of the World and European Day against the death penalty showed a minor decrease in the support for the death penalty in comparison to the previous year: from 58 to 54 per cent.On the other hand, the percentage of respondents who oppose capital punishment did not increase and remains the same as before: 24 per cent. This year, more respondents were undecided: 22 as against 18 per cent.

Women and men have the same attitude toward capital punishment, although in the past women were somewhat less in favour of it:
Younger respondents are more often against the death penalty:
Urban population is slightly more often against the death penalty than the rural population:
Regionally, the highest percentage of those opposing capital punishment live in Belgrade and then in Vojvodina, while the highest support for the death penalty is found, as always, in Central Serbia:
Respondents with lower education are more supportive of the death penalty:

The poll („face-to-face“ survey of public opinion – omnibus) was administered by Ipsos Strategic Marketing, using the same methodology as in the past ten years, on a nationally representative sample (three-stage random representative stratified sample), from September 16 to 21, 2017.
